KTM 1090 ADVENTURE [2017-2021] - Z-ring chain

The Regina 525 HPE Z-ring chain with rivet link sets new standards in motorcycle technology. This high-performance chain does not require regular relubrication, which makes it particularly low-maintenance. Motorcyclists no longer have to lubricate the chain every 1,000 km, which not only saves time but also extends the life of the chain.

Extensive laboratory and road testing has proven that the HPE chain lasts at least as long as traditional lubricated Z-ring chains, if not longer. A special feature of this chain is the coating made of tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), one of the most advanced coatings from the group of DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the bushings and rollers and reduces energy losses while increasing efficiency in the secondary drive.

The very high hardness of the coated surface combined with a low coefficient of friction results in improved performance. Additionally, eliminating the need to clean the chain and use lubricants minimizes environmental impact. The innovative ta-C coating technology was developed through intensive research and development work by Regina engineers in Italy.
