Step 1: Make preparations
Before you start installing the new LED blinkers, make sure that you have all the required tools and materials on hand. This includes a pliers, wrenches, the new LED blinkers, the resistors with e-test marks and possibly insulating tape.
Step 2: Remove old indicators
Switch off the motorcycle and remove the spark plug to avoid a short circuit. Loosen the screws that hold the old indicators in place and pull the cables off. Make sure not to damage the cables.
Step 3: Install resistors
Install the resistors according to the manufacturer's instructions. These are necessary to correctly adjust the flashing frequency of the LED blinkers. Connect the resistances to the cables of the indicators and insulate the connections well with insulating tape.
Step 4: Connect new LED indicators
Connect the new LED blinkers to the corresponding cables, which you previously deducted from the old indicators. Make sure to consider the polarity to ensure that the indicators work properly.
Step 5: carry out the function test
After everything is connected, switch on the motorcycle and test the new LED indicators. Check whether you flash correctly and whether the flashing frequency is stable. If the indicators do not work properly, check the connections and the resistances.
Step 6: Care and maintenance
To extend the lifespan of your new LED blinkers, clean them regularly from dirt and dust. Also check the cable connections and the resistances for damage.
Question 1: Can I install the LED indicators without resistance?
It is not recommended because the flashing frequency can be too high without resistance and the turn signals may not work properly.
Question 2: Where can I find the right resistance for my indicators?
The right resistors can be purchased in motorcycle accessories or online. Make sure you have an e-test mark.
