Step 1: Preparation
Make sure you have all the tools and materials required. This includes the LED indicators, suitable resistors, cables, a screwdriver and a multimeter.
Step 2: Assembly of the turn signals
Remove the old turn signals and assemble the new LED blinkers with the M8 thread at the intended area. Make sure you sit tight.
Step 3: Connection of the cables
Connect the cables of the LED indicators to the motorcycle electric. Make sure to consider the polarity: the plus pole (red) must be connected to the plus of the motorcycle, the minus pole (black) accordingly with the minus.
Step 4: Install resistance
In order to keep the flashing frequency correctly, the resistors must be installed in parallel to the turn signal connections. Cut the cables to insert the resistors and isolate the connections well.
Step 5: Functional test
Turn on the ignition and test the new turn signals. You should flash evenly. Also check whether all connections are safe.
Step 6: Care and maintenance
Check the function of the turn signals regularly and clean the housing of dirt and dust. Make sure that no moisture penetrates.
How long do LED turn signals last?
LED blinkers usually have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours if they are installed correctly and maintained.
Do I need special resistance?
Yes, special resistors are necessary for the correct function of the LED indicators to adapt the flashing frequency.
