Step 1: Preparation

Before you start installing the LED blinkers, make sure that you have all the necessary materials and tools ready. Work in a well-lit area and make sure that your Kawasaki ER-5 or ER-6N is safe.

Step 2: Tools and materials

For these instructions you need the following tool and material:

Step 3: Remove old indicators

Start removing the old indicators from your motorcycle. Dry the screws that hold the indicators and pull off the cable plugs. Make sure not to damage the indicators if you want to use them again later.

Step 4: attach resistance

To ensure that the new LED blinkers work correctly, you have to attach the supplied resistance. Connect the resistors according to the manufacturer's instructions with the turn signal cables. Isolate the connections well with insulating tape.

Step 5: Install new turn signals

Place the new LED indicators in the place of the old indicators. Attach the cable plugs back to the flashing cables with the appropriate screws and put the cable plugs. Make sure everything is sitting safely.

Step 6: Perform the function test

After the new turn signals are installed, carry out a function test. Turn on the ignition and activate the turn signals to ensure that you flash correctly. Also check the function of the resistance.

Question 1: Why do I need resistance for LED blinkers?

LED blinkers have less power consumption than conventional light bulbs. Without the resistances there could be a faster flashing or even a failure of the indicators. The resistances ensure that the current flow is correctly regulated.

Question 2: Can I install the indicators myself, or should I hire a specialist?

The installation of the turn signals is usually easy for a technically experienced motorcyclist and can be carried out yourself. However, if you are unsure or have no experience, it is advisable to consult a specialist.
