Step 1: Preparation
Before you start installing the LED blinkers, make sure that you have all the required tools and materials. This includes the new LED indicators, resistances, a screwdriver, pliers and insulating tape. Switch off the motorcycle and separate the battery to avoid electrical blows.
Step 2: Remove old indicators
Remove the old turn signals by loosening the screws you hold in your place. Carefully separate the cable connections to avoid damage. Keep the screws in a safe place, as you may have to reuse them later.
Step 3: Prepare resistance
Take the resistances on hand and make sure that you have the right value for your new LED blinkers. As a rule, you need 10-25 ohm resistors to adapt the flashing frequency. Cut the wires of the resistors to an appropriate length to connect them to the turn signal cables.
Step 4: Install new turn signals
Place the new LED blinkers in the place of the old indicator and attach them to the screws previously removed. Make sure that you are properly aligned and sit firmly. Connect the cables of the new turn signals to the existing cables on the motorcycle.
Step 5: Connect resistance
Connect the resistances to the cables of the new turn signals. Make sure the connection is safe and use insulating tape to secure the connection and avoid short circuits. Make sure that the resistors are mounted in a place that is sufficiently ventilated to avoid overheating.
Step 6: Perform the function test
After everything is installed, connect the battery and test the new turn signals. Check whether you flash correctly and whether the flashing frequency is normal. If the flashing frequency is too fast, check the connections of the resistances.
Question: Why do I need resistance for LED blinkers?
LED blinkers need resistors to adapt the flashing frequency. Without these resistances, there can be too fast blink rates, which leads to a malfunction of the indicators.
Question: Where do I install the resistance?
The resistances should be mounted near the indicators, ideally in a well -ventilated place to avoid overheating. Use insulating tape to secure the cable connections.
