Step 1: Make preparations

Make sure you have all the tools and a new speedometer wave required. This includes a wrench, a screwdriver and possibly pliers. Read the operating instructions of your motorcycle to get specific information.

Step 2: Cut off the motorcycle

Park your motorcycle on a flat surface and switch off the engine. Put on the brakes to secure the motorcycle. Make sure the key has been deducted to avoid unwanted starts.

Step 3: Localize the speedometer wave

Open the covering of the speedometer to see the speedometer. This is usually on the left side of the motorcycle. Check the connection between the speedometer and the speedometer.

Step 4: Remove speedometer

Loose the screws that attach the speedometer wave to the speedometer and carefully pull out the wave. Make sure not to damage any other components. It can be helpful to turn the wave carefully to solve it.

Step 5: Install new speedometers

Use the new speedometer wave in the same place where the old wave has been removed. Make sure you are securely attached to the speedometer and the drive point. Carefully put on the screws to fix the wave.

Step 6: Test the speedometer wave

Start the engine and test the speedometer wave by starting the motorcycle. Check whether the speedometer works correctly. If the speedometer does not react, check the connections again.

How often should I check the speedometer wave?

It is recommended to check the speedometer wave at least once a season, especially before long journeys or after intensive use.

What to do if the tachhelle breaks?

If the speedometer wave breaks, you should replace it immediately to avoid inaccurate speed measurements. Don't drive on until the wave has been replaced.
